Lucille Baker is Easter Seals of Louisville’s 2012 Volunteer of the Year

baker-voyLucille Baker has been one of Louisville’s most active volunteers. She constantly gives to this community and especially to Easter Seals of Louisville.

She was an ambassador for the City of Louisville for several years. She met the boats that docked at the Bell of Louisville’s wharf and officially welcomed visitors to our city. She has volunteered at nursing homes and delivered meals to shut-ins. During Mayor Abramson’s term of office, she helped at all the Mayor’s Community Meetings. She is an active member of her church and serves on several committees.

Lucille was a member of the Easter Seals Board of Trustees from 1998 until July 2000 and has supported Easter Seals for more than 30 years. Prior to serving on the board, she helped at our Telethons and all the Thunder events. She has given thousands of volunteer hours helping at every Easter Seals fundraiser over the years. She not only volunteers her time, but she also recruits volunteers to help at these events.

Lucille has two daughters and often wears an angel pin in memory of the daughter who became paralyzed from an injury and later died. It is with our greatest appreciation that we select Lucille Baker as Easter Seals of Louisville’s 2012 Volunteer of the Year for her 30 years of outstanding service and dedication to our pediatric rehabilitation center.
